and not to Hollywood. Na aber Hallo!

Laut kircheneigener Deseret News (vom heutigen Tage) wird die MÃ¤serstatue in Dresden aufgestellt, auf dem GelÃ¤nde des dortigen PfahlhausgrundstÃ¼ckes, nicht in Meissen (noch nicht, sie geben die Hoffnung nicht auf)!!!:

Germans leery of Maeser statue

Placement of a $40,000 statue of Karl G. Maeser in Meissen, Germany, soon-to-be sister city to Provo, won’t take place as originally planned. The statue, donated to Maeser’s birthplace of Meissen by his descendants, caused quite a stir in the German city.
Earl Maeser, great-grandson of Karl and the man in charge of the donation efforts, said placement of the statue was rejected because religious and political leaders in Meissen thought the family’s motive to be "solely a missionary thing."
But Earl Maeser said the gift, which he spent eight months raising money to purchase, was a way of saying thanks to Meissen for giving his great grandfather "the foundation that enabled him to come here and have a great impact on the community."
Karl Maeser was the first principal of Brigham Young Academy, the forerunner to Brigham Young University. The BYU Alumni Association served as a collection agency for the statue’s funds, which came from family and friends of the Maeser family.
The gift was intended to commemorate the sister city relationship, which was announced in late 1999 along with a similar relationship with Nanning, China. The China agreement was signed May 25 when officials from Nanning visited Provo.
Mike Mower, Provo director of community and governmental relations, said they are looking for an ongoing social, cultural and economic relationship with Nanning.
The sister city agreement for Meissen will go forward despite disagreement over the statue, which will be installed in nearby Dresden at a stake center owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mower said the agreement will be signed in mid-July.
Earl Maeser said he hopes the sister city agreement will help people in Meissen see the true intentions for the placement of the statue. "We need to show them that we’re friends unconditionally," he said.
Earl Maeser said interactions between Provo and Meissen are already taking place. High school students from Provo are in Germany and plan to attend high school there for several weeks. In the fall, students from Meissen will come to Provo to attend school. "It’ll be a wonderful exchange," he said. "(The sister city relationship)will enable us to share cultural ideas and become aquainted with people from Meissen."
He said he has hopes that friendships established will eventually wear down any mistrust that exists. He’s disappointed the statue wasn’t able to be placed where he feels it belongs, he said, but he’s not disgusted or discouraged. "I think it will eventually happen," he said."
