division of Europe into:Europe 193,000/194,000
U.K./Ireland 173,000/174,000
Nordic Countries 22,000/ 25,000TOTAL: 388,000/393,000
The numbers are different between the country totals and the summary table. I assume that
this is an editing error. The totals are for year-end 1997.The figure cited on the Churchs website is 403,563 which I assume is (like other figures on
the website) for year-end 1999. This would imply an increase of around 10,000-15,000 in
the last two years or around a 3% increase (2.5%-3.8%).Churchwide figures for this same timeframe show a change from 10,072,000 to 10,752,000
or 6.75% increase. So, while Europe may not be shrinking--although with the inaccuracies in the figures, thats
hardly certain--it definitely does not keep pace with the rest of the Church in growth.EasternBoy
