Betrifft: Wieder ein Missbrauchsfall

Hier wieder ein Missbrauchsfall, von dem in der heutigen Ausgabe der Salt Lake Tribune berichtet wurde:
Child molester gets maximum sentence

Some things are worse than death, according to a boy who was 12 when family friend Mark Anthony Baca sexually molested him and three other young boys.
   "He did not kill me," the boy wrote in a letter to 3rd District Judge Ann Boyden. "But he has sentenced me to a worse fate. There is no hell in any kind of afterlife that could compare to what I went through."
On Monday, the boy, now 15, his parents and the parents of an 8-year-old victim all asked Boyden to give Baca, 42, the maximum possible punishment.
The judge complied, ordering three six-years-to-life prison terms to run consecutively. Boyden also ordered the state convictions - for first-degree felony sodomy of a child - to run consecutively to an 11-year federal prison sentence that Baca is serving for creating videotapes of his sexual encounters with children.
   "It’s as egregious a case as I’ve seen," Boyden said.
   The   abuse occurred between 1998 and 2001 at a Salt Lake City home where Baca lived with his elderly mother. In Baca’s bedroom, police found three video cameras and nine video players. They seized 75 videos representing hundreds of hours of homemade child pornography.
   "He made a record of his activities for his future perverted use," said Assistant Utah Attorney General Paul Amann.
   Baca, lured the boys to his home
   with the promise of magic shows, computer games and remote-control
   models. Baca later claimed the victims were willing participants in the sexual activities.
   Defense attorney David Mack claimed Baca himself was sexually abused as a child and pleaded for concurrent prison terms so the defendant would have "some hope, some glimmer" of a future outside of prison.
Said Baca: "There’s no excuse for what I did, and I deserve to be punished. But I also deserve some hope of a second chance."
The mother of the 8-year-old   boy said: "He not only molested my son, he emotionally terrorized him and destroyed him."
The father of the 15-year-old boy said Baca had been his friend for more than 30 years.
   "We considered him a family friend," the man told the judge.
   "But he’s a thief. He stole our son’s innocence, youth and trust."
   The boy’s mother lamented, "My son will never be able to regain his innocence."
