Aktuelle Meldung in der Deseret News: Im Januar 2002 lag die Zahl der Bankrotterklärungen von Haushalten 37% höher als im Vorjahresmonat, das sind 1 754 gegenüber 1 284 im Januar 2001. Insgesamt hat es im Jahr 2001 in Utah 19 342 Insolvenzen privater Haushalte gegeben.

Damit steigt die Insolvenzrate im Jahr 2001 auf 2 2/3 Prozent. Zugrundegelegt wird hierbei die Schätzung des Utah Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget auf 725 500 Haushalte im Jahr 2001.
