Witzbold. Ihre Bücher "Mormonism: The Story of a New Religious Tradition" und "Sojourner in the Promised Land: Forty Years among the Mormons" habe ich verschlungen. Aus letzterem möchte ich kurz zitieren (es liegt gerade vor mir auf meinem Schreibtisch, voller Markierungen und Notizen):
"In some (perhaps many) instances, study of the communitys history appears to be a surrogate for lost faith ... if the interest in history becomes a preoccupation that leads to writing about the community, very often the outcome is history that is in the extreme ... such slanted accounts do not provide good models for scholarly writings of denominational history" (S. 179-180).
Genau aufgrund dieser von Shipps beschriebenen Problematik wünsche ich mir Abhandlungen über die Geschichte meines Glaubens von möglichst "neutralen" Historikern.
