Als ich für eine Freundin über eine Sportlerin aus Hong Kong Informationen zusammentrug, fiel mir diese Notiz in die Hände (bei Google):
Mormons and transsexual in uneasy truce
Staff reporter, Hong Kong iMailA temporary truce has been declared between the Mormon Church and the transsexual it excommunicated -- the church will put off injunction proceedings if she stays out of church premises.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints agreed yesterday to delay its High Court injunction application, filed on Wednesday, seeking to have its former church member legally barred from entering the 22 Mormon churches and meeting houses in Hong Kong.
In return, Jessica Park -- formerly known as Stewart before a sex-change operation two-and-a-half years ago -- agreed not to enter church premises before the hearing, likely to be in about two months’ time.
Ms Park has filed a countersuit against the church and three church elders, claiming they unlawfully discriminated against her.
A church member for 24 years, she wants her 1999 excommunication reversed, as well as unspecified damages.
The delay in proceedings was agreed yesterday, at a hearing in chambers before Justice Wally Yeung Chun-kuen, in order for Ms Park’s lawyers to prepare their case.
